IRDAI proposes overhaul of insurance distribution economics

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India released a consultation paper titled 'Recalibrating Economics of Insurance Distribution' on September 23, proposing hard caps on insurance commissions across life, health, motor, and credit-linked products and strict limits on insurance companies' expenses. The proposal seeks to move the sector away from commission-led sales towards a model focused on affordability, customer outcomes, transparency and wider insurance coverage, according to IRDAI Chairman Ajay Seth, though the Insurance Brokers Association of India expressed concern over the proposed commission caps and reduction in insurers' overall expense limit.

Mahindra & Mahindra reports 15% September sales growth

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd reported total auto sales of 114,874 units in September 2026, representing 15 percent year-on-year growth from 100,298 units in September 2025. Domestic auto sales reached 110,855 units, up 16 percent year-on-year, with the total including exports.

India cabinet approves 1.86 lakh crore renewable energy scheme

The Union Cabinet approved the Green Energy Corridor Phase-III scheme to strengthen India's Intra-State Transmission System for evacuating up to 135 gigawatts of renewable energy and deploying 50 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems by 2032-33.

ITC completes Yoga Bar parent company acquisition

ITC has completed its acquisition of Sproutlife Foods Private Ltd, the parent company of the Yoga Bar brand, by purchasing the remaining 52.5% stake for approximately ₹645 crore, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. The cumulative investment in the health and nutrition brand totals approximately ₹900 crore.

Vodafone Idea introduces free international roaming on select plans

Vodafone Idea announced free international roaming with postpaid plans starting at Rs 501, annual prepaid unlimited data plans, and corporate plans starting at Rs 451 for enterprise customers. The shares climbed 2 per cent in Friday's trade following the announcement.

HDFC Bank appoints Anup Bagchi as MD and CEO
